AOGG KIDS BJJ – Community, Growth & High-Level Coaching
Art of Ground Games’ junior program offers children and youth a unique opportunity to grow through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling – in a safe, motivating, and high-level training environment. We combine high-quality instruction, strong community values, and a clear path from the very first steps to the highest levels of the sport.
Our training philosophy is based on long-term athlete development, where each child’s individual journey is supported and respected. Some aim for competitive success, while others find joy, balance, and meaningful experiences through training – both paths are equally valued. No previous experience is required – the most important thing is that the child feels welcome and enjoys being part of the group.
AOGG Competition Team
The AOGG competition team brings together young athletes with strong motivation and a competitive mindset. The team includes multiple Finnish, European, and world champions.
Training follows an individualised coaching model that takes into account each athlete’s strengths and areas for development.
Practice is intense, focused, and highly rewarding. The team trains several times a week, following a structured plan and competes actively both in Finland and internationally.
This is a rare and dedicated group – being part of it is not just a right, it’s an earned privilege.
Coaching
The head coach of AOGG’s junior program is Thomas Mikel, under whose guidance young athletes have reached the top levels nationally and internationally.
More important than the titles, however, is the environment in which those results are achieved – one that is safe, focused and supports every child’s overall development.Through grappling sports, kids grow not only as athletes but as people: they learn to manage pressure, set goals, work as part of a team – and push themselves further than they thought possible. Training builds confidence and provides skills that carry far beyond the mats.
Thomas’ expertise spans the full athlete journey – from a child’s first steps on the mat to the highest levels of competitive sport.
Training Facilities
The heart of our junior program is located at Hybridiareena in Kivenlahti, one of the most modern and versatile sports centres in Finland.
The arena offers top-tier conditions for BJJ and submission grappling – including recovery services and a dynamic environment that encourages an active lifestyle. While Kivenlahti serves as the main location for AOGG Kids & Juniors, training sessions are also held at our other academies in Sörnäinen and Erottaja.
