Academy rules
- Respect Everyone, No Politics
‣ Always show respect to your instructors, fellow students, and guests. Racism, discrimination, and political discussions are strictly prohibited. - Take Responsibility for Your Payments
‣ Our academy relies on trust. It is your responsibility to ensure that your fees and other payments are made on time. Training without paying or explicit permission will result in a lifetime ban from Art of Ground Games. - Hygiene and Cleanliness
‣ Ensure personal hygiene is maintained. Nails should be trimmed, and the gi and training equipment should be clean and free of offensive odors. - No Shoes on the Mat
‣ Leave your shoes in the designated area. Keep the mat clean to prevent infections and injuries. - Punctuality
‣ Be on time. If you are late, remember to greet the instructor when you join the training. - No Ego
‣ Leave your ego at the door. BJJ is about learning and improving together. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. - Listen to Your Instructor
‣ Pay attention to instructions and follow your instructor's guidance. Do not interrupt, talk, or leave for the bathroom while the instructor is speaking. - Training Partners
‣ Every member’s goal is to be a good training partner. Treat your training partners with respect. Use controlled force and be mindful of their safety. Communicate if you have any injuries. - Keep the Academy Clean
‣ Clean the equipment used during training after each session, put it away, and report any damaged equipment to the instructor. - Prohibited Substances
‣ Intoxicants and illegal substances are strictly prohibited on the premises.
SPARRING ETIQUETTE
- Avoid Resting on the Logo Wall
‣ During sparring, do not rest or sit on the logo wall. Instead, rest on the opposite side or outside the mat to leave room for engagement. - Tap Early, Tap Often
‣ Safety first. If you find yourself in a submission or an uncomfortable position, tap out to avoid injury. - Respect the Tap
‣ If your partner taps, release the submission immediately. Never apply techniques with malicious intent. - Work Through the Entire Round
‣ If you’re tired, focus on defense rather than stopping altogether. - Leg Locks
‣ All leg locks are allowed for all levels in NoGi and Gi unless otherwise instructed. Ensure your training partner is aware of the leg locks. NEVER CRANK HEEL HOOKS. - Focus on Technique
‣ Concentrate on positions, control, and technique instead of counting points unless you are training for competition. - Experienced Partner's Responsibility
‣ The more experienced party is responsible for maintaining an appropriate pace during sparring. - Technique Over Force
‣ Focus on technique, not brute force. Avoid overpowering smaller or less experienced partners. - Controlled Submissions
‣ When finishing a submission, do it slowly. You can lock your submission quickly but finish in a controlled manner. - Freedom to Choose Partners
‣ You can ask anyone to roll and have the right to decline any rolling request.
