Academy rules

  1. Respect Everyone, No Politics
    ‣ Always show respect to your instructors, fellow students, and guests. Racism, discrimination, harassment, and political discussions are strictly prohibited.
  2. Take Responsibility for Your Payments
    ‣ Our academy relies on trust. Book your session in the AOGG App and make sure your payments are up to date. Your membership and access rights are personal. Do not let anyone else in.
  3. Hygiene and Cleanliness
    ‣ Ensure personal hygiene is maintained. Nails should be trimmed, and the gi and training equipment should be clean and free of offensive odors. Wash your gi after every session. Do not train if you have a contagious skin condition, an open wound, or a contagious illness.
  4. No Shoes on the Mat
    ‣ Leave your shoes in the designated area. Do not walk barefoot to the toilet or changing room and then return to the mat. A clean mat prevents infections.
  5. Punctuality
    ‣ Be on time. If you are late, remember to greet the instructor when you join the training.
  6. No Ego
    ‣ Leave your ego at the door. BJJ is about learning and improving together. Tap early, help your training partners, and remember that wins and losses are not counted in training.
  7. Listen to Your Instructor
    ‣ Pay attention to instructions and follow your instructor's guidance and any session-specific restrictions. Do not interrupt, talk, or leave for the bathroom while the instructor is speaking.
  8. Training Partners
    ‣ Every member's goal is to be a good training partner. Treat your training partners with respect. Use controlled force and be mindful of their safety. Tell your partner about any injuries before the round. If you get injured, tell the instructor immediately.
  9. Keep the Academy Clean
    ‣ Clean the equipment used during training after each session, put it away, and report any damaged equipment to the instructor.
  10. Prohibited Substances
    ‣ Alcohol, intoxicants, illegal substances, and doping are strictly prohibited. Do not come to the academy intoxicated.

‍

SPARRING ETIQUETTE

  1. Avoid Resting on the Logo Wall
    ‣ During sparring, do not rest or sit on the logo wall. Instead, rest on the opposite side or outside the mat to leave room for engagement.
  2. Tap Early, Tap Often
    ‣ Safety first. If you find yourself in a submission or an uncomfortable position, tap out to avoid injury.
  3. Respect the Tap
    ‣ If your partner taps, release the submission immediately. Never apply techniques with malicious intent.
  4. Work Through the Entire Round
    ‣ If you're tired, focus on defense rather than stopping altogether.
  5. Leg Locks
    ‣ Straight leg locks are allowed for all levels in NoGi and Gi unless otherwise instructed. Heel hooks and other twisting knee locks are allowed only if both partners have completed the beginner course or reached an equivalent level approved by an instructor, and agree before the round. NEVER CRANK HEEL HOOKS.
  6. Focus on Technique
    ‣ Concentrate on positions, control, and technique instead of counting points unless you are training for competition.
  7. Experienced Partner's Responsibility
    ‣ The more experienced party is responsible for maintaining an appropriate pace during sparring.
  8. Technique Over Force
    ‣ Focus on technique, not brute force. Avoid overpowering smaller or less experienced partners.
  9. Controlled Submissions
    ‣ When finishing a submission, do it slowly. You can lock your submission quickly but finish in a controlled manner.
  10. Freedom to Choose Partners
    ‣ You can ask anyone to roll and have the right to decline any rolling request.

‍

PROHIBITED TECHNIQUES

  1. Scissor takedowns
  2. Jumping closed guard
  3. Forcing takedowns with foot planted
  4. Pulling back from turtle
  5. Forward roll from turtle
  6. Over stacking
  7. Cranking submissions
  8. Slamming

‍

OPEN TRAINING

  1. Open training is only for AOGG members with a valid right to train. A guest may take part only if they have registered with AOGG in the AOGG App before the visit.
  2. The minimum age for open training is 15.
  3. Sparring without an instructor is only allowed for members who have completed the beginner course or reached an equivalent level approved by an instructor.
  4. Members under 18 do not spar with adults without an instructor present.
  5. All academy rules, sparring etiquette, and prohibited techniques also apply during open training.
  6. First aid supplies are kept in a visible place. In an emergency, call 112.

‍

KIDS

  1. A guardian attends the child's first session.
  2. Children stay in the areas reserved for them.
  3. The guardian is responsible for the child before and after the session. Children must be picked up no later than when the session ends.

‍

PHOTOGRAPHY

  1. AOGG photographs and films training sessions and events. If you do not want to appear in photos, let us know in the AOGG App or by email.
  2. Photographing or publishing others requires their permission.
  3. The premises are under camera surveillance. There is no filming in changing rooms or bathrooms.

‍

BAN, PROPERTY AND BREACHES

  1. Ban
    ‣ Training without registering and paying, or without explicit permission, is prohibited. The price of a single session is charged for each session used without permission, and unauthorised use may ultimately result in a permanent ban from all AOGG gyms. AOGG may lift a ban at its discretion.
  2. Property and Lost Items
    ‣ Do not leave your belongings at the academy. Lost items are kept for 14 days, after which unclaimed items are donated or discarded. Valuables such as wallets, phones and keys are handed over to the police.
  3. Breaches
    ‣ Breaking these rules may result in removal from the session, a written warning, or termination of the membership in accordance with the terms of the agreement.
